For salon owners, you take great pride in the space where you work. From making sure your clients are comfortable to having the optimal amount of space to work, you put a lot of time and effort into finding the perfect furniture. However, once you decide to remodel, it’s time to go through that process all over again — at least that’s what Robbie Tullos and Stephanie Holmes of Regal Room Salon went through in their recent salon remodel.

We sat down with our local salon neighbors about their process in shopping with Standish and got some tips for remodeling your salon.

Being in business for nearly 4 years in the up-and-coming metroplex city of Keller, Texas, Tullos and Holmes set out for a new look for their space. Setting out for a modern, airy look to impress clients, they chose a couple Standish favorites for their key furniture items. Regal Room Salon - Tips for Your Salon Remodel

“Any time you take on a remodeling project, you have to be relaxed,” Holmes told us. “Once you get into construction, you never know what you’re going to come across.”

Remodeling your salon can be quite the undertaking, but with a well-communicative construction team and a timeline that works for your business, it can be smooth sailing. As long as you put time between each remodel, that is.

"I think you should probably remodel every five years, just in general,” says Tullos. "How often would I like to remodel? Well, it appears every year,” he added.

When choosing the furniture to be your salon’s perfect fit, follow Standish’s 7 tips for remodel success:

  • Use your salon’s existing structure for design inspiration
  • Hunt for antiques for statement pieces around your space
  • Get personal: bring a touch of your unique style to the forefront
  • Think of the functional pieces such as mats as additional statements
  • Add colors as fun accents in your space (a red salon chair could do the trick!)
  • Create a relaxing environment: this is where clients come to unwind
  • Think bigger than just hair — add a spa or pedicure space for additional service offerings
  • If you’re stuck on what to look for, just do what Tullos did and use Standish’s product videos or the search tool to find your perfect salon furniture for your remodel. You can always start on YouTube channel which has many chair and station videos to help you research.
